About Tara

I came to this work sideways.

I didn't set out to become a therapist. I came to this work through a genuine fascination with human behavior and a path that took some unexpected turns.

What I didn't anticipate was that right around the time I was completing my licensure requirements, OCD was beginning to take a serious hold on my life. I earned my license while fighting one of the hardest battles I've ever faced — and that experience changed everything about how I understand this work.

I'm not a therapist who learned about OCD from a textbook. I lived it. And that shapes every session.

Credentials

  • Specialized training in OCD and anxiety disorders
  • Adjunct Professor, University of Colorado Denver — training graduate-level counseling students

My Approach

I draw from evidence-based methods including ERP (the gold standard for OCD), CBT, ACT, and the Gottman Method for couples work.

My approach is eclectic in the best sense — I don't force every client into the same framework. I pay attention to what you actually need and adjust accordingly.

Good therapy is collaborative, honest, and sometimes uncomfortable — in the ways that lead somewhere real.

What working with me actually looks like

What I won't do

  • Minimize what you're going through
  • Rush you toward a tidy resolution
  • Tell you to just think positive

What I will do

  • Show up consistently
  • Take your experience seriously
  • Work with you — not at you
